Shanze Shahbaz is an architect based in Toronto, born in Lahore, and raised in between. Her research seeks to understand top-down identity creation within the nation state. She completed her Masters in Architecture at the University of Waterloo, where she dedicated 2.5 years to understanding Pakistan’s military housing development industry, culminating in a thesis book.

While practising in the heritage/adaptive reuse and residential fields in Toronto, she remains engaged in local fungi and apiarist community groups, while advancing her research and architectural portfolio.
